Dear SPS Families:
Last week, I had the honor of participating in the Veterans Day Parade, the ceremonial opening of the Veterans Memorial Stadium and Sports Complex at Stoughton High School and the dedication of the beautiful pocket park on Pearl Street behind the stadium. At all three events, I truly enjoyed the community pride, deep respect for all of our veterans, and meeting all of the families and community members present. Town leaders, members of the VFW, and all officials were very welcoming and made me feel like an immediate part of the team. I even was able to cut the ribbon opening the park on Pearl Street!
Please allow me to put in a shameless plug for our Stoughton High School performance of “Puffs” taking place this weekend, Friday and Saturday, November 19-20 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, November 21, at 2:00 p.m. Set in our beautiful new auditorium, “The Stoughton High School Theatre Program is proud to present “Puffs” written by playwright Matt Cox. The Hufflepuffs finally get their due in the hilarious new Harry Potter-inspired parody.” I am looking forward to it. Hope to see you there. Tickets are available at www.stoughtondrama.org or at the door.
Since the beginning of the school year we have all been managing challenges related to social media. Whether it’s the TikTok challenges, the constant and often overwhelming flow of information, or the spreading of rumors online, we have all felt the impact of social media on our lives. While social media does keep us connected to the world in good ways; many of our students struggle with day to day management of it. Recognizing that students or families might need help with managing these or other pandemic related issues, we allocated a portion of our ESSER grant funding to provide additional counseling services at all of the schools. If you have a student in need of help, please reach out to your principal or guidance counselor to access these services. They are available to all.
Thank you for taking the time to read this message and know that I am truly honored and humbled to be your superintendent. It has been a joy getting to know everyone and attending events and activities. Please know of my best wishes for a peaceful and restful Thanksgiving.
Sincerely,
Thomas R. Raab, Ed.D.
Superintendent
