The Dawe School had its first "Walk to School" event of the year on October 12 with more than 120 Dawe Dragons attending! It was a perfect morning for a walk!
During a recent class in the learning commons at the Dawe School, students watched videos about how the Golden Gate Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge were built and then had the chance to design and build their own bridges.
The Dawe School focuses on different positive character traits each month and honors students for displaying those character traits at a "Caught with Character" assembly. Compassion - caring for others with kindness - was the character trait for September. Congratulations to these Dawe Dragons who were recently recognized for showing compassion!

When current Dawe School 4th grader Adriana Franco was in 3rd grade she chose to send a letter to President Biden as part of a class writing assignment. The President wrote a letter back to Adriana this summer and it recently arrived at the Dawe! Adriana is pictured here with the letter!

Dawe School students taking saxophone lessons! 🎷 🎶
Stoughton Town Clerk Stephanie Carrara recently spoke to 4th grade students at the Dawe School. Carrara, a former Dawe School (North School) student, told students about her role as Town Clerk, including overseeing local, state and federal elections in Stoughton. She was the first guest speaker in a career-themed guest speaker series for Dawe 4th and 5th graders during their class in the learning commons.

Members of the Stoughton Fire Department have been visiting our elementary schools for fire safety assemblies. Here is a picture of Dawe School principal Rob Cancellieri reading to preschool students at the Jones Early Childhood Center! In celebration of Read Across America, the Jones Early Childhood Center had special guest readers visit classrooms on March 1 and March 2.
The Dawe School held another book swap the day before February vacation. Students in each grade brought books in to donate and then could look for "new" books to take home from the ones that their classmates donated. One of the hallways was turned into a bookstore with dozens and dozens of books spread out on the tables as students excitedly browsed and selected their next book(s) to read!
